    Course objectives and characteristics

    The Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science aims to train students for careers as technicians (Bachelor’s degree), engineers and researchers (Master’s), having a solid base in IT coupled with a broad, general scientific knowledge.

    This final year (L3) pathway equips students with skills in the fields of design and management of information systems.  The objective of the course is to prepare students to be proficient computer technicians.  It is part of the national MIAGE curriculum, and meets the needs of businesses in the fields of new information and communication technologies.  Students may opt to pursue their studies with one of our Master’s Degrees in MIAGE (Applied IT Methods for Business Management), IT Design (Models), Optimisation, or Programming and Services.

     

     

    Course structure

    Students begin to specialise in the final year of the degree (L3). 
    This third year is broken down into two teaching semesters, each followed by examinations. Lectures (also known as CM), Tutorials (TD) and Practical Work (TP) are grouped into Teaching Units (TU). Some subjects are compulsory, others are chosen by students from a range of options. These optional papers offer students the chance to study topics of interest from the course in greater detail and/or to discover topics from other disciplines and to explore inter-disciplinary approaches.

     

    Accompagnement pédagogique

    Students receive academic support in various forms throughout their studies :

    • Access to online services (academic portal, course resources, personal online progress monitoring…),
    • A designated supervising tutor,
    • Assistance in orientation towards the Masters provided by the teaching staff, the Department of Information and Orientation of High School Students and Undergraduates (PIOLE),
    • Certificates in languages and information technology as part of the degree (CLES, C2I).

     

     

    Internship

    In addition to the academic components the course will incorporate a professional internship.
    of at least fourteen weeks.

    Further study

    Further studies at the University of Evry-Val-d’Essonne

    Students may opt to pursue their studies up to Master’s level (bac + 5) or beyond.

    Terms of admission

    For admission to the third year (L3), students must have 120 academic credits (ECTS) from years one and two of this course, or 120 academic credits from years one and two of another course and the formal agreement of the course director.
    Special cases: students from other academic backgrounds may be admitted directly to the third year, subject to evaluation of their application by the admissions committee. These include candidates with :

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science,
    • a BTS in Computer Science Management, or Computer Science and Networks for industry and Technical Services,
    • a DUT in Computer Science, or IT and Networks for Industry and Technical Services, or IT Management, or Electrical and Industrial IT Engineering, or Telecommunications and Networks Engineering, or Communication Services and Networks,

    and meeting the entry criteria stipulated by the teaching staff of the SFA department.
