Objectives: implement the new solutions, innovating new techniques for seamless mobility, security and services over heterogeneous networks and NGN. Working on Projects CELTIC – Seimonet, ITEA – SUMO.
Approach:
- To design new architectures to ensure seamless mobility in heterogeneous networks
- To identify and develop the new security and mobility mechanisms and to define new techniques for seamless integration of heterogeneous network i.e.. WLAN, WIMAX, Cellular Networks.
- Developing a prototype for the implementation of clients of an operator roaming from one operator access networks into the other access networks (WISP operator and wireless network operator-WIMAX) using WVNO.
- Network selection criteria, handover switching mechanisms.
- To design and implement the handover optimization techniques for UMA based networks (WLAN, WIMAX with 3G integrations).
- IEEE 802.21 based media independent handover.
- QoS and presence management of user in data networks.
- VoIP and IPTV on WLAN, WIMAX and 3G networks.
