Social Security

In France, health insurance is mandatory. It is called sécurité sociale, "social security". The administrative body in charge of the social security is the Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie (CPAM).

Exemptions
European citizens:

• Students are highly advised to obtain an European Health Insurance Card from their home social security body before leaving for their exchange in France.
• If unable to present the EHI Card, students will be given the corresponding form by the physician. Healthcare will be reimbursed by the local Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie according to the official rates.
